Seeking to improve Supply Chain performance?

The Supply Chain may not be recognized as a broad set of integrated processes.  Is it Logistics and Transportation? Or does it include other parts of the organization? The view taken here is fairly encompassing, from customer service through to sourcing.  The Supply Chain may be viewed as the following set of processes, describing the flow of plans and materials across the entire supply chain.

These processes cross over nearly all functions in a typical organizations, so how do get your arms around the Supply Chain?  One way to level set everyone and gain an integrated picture is to compare HOW each function works with THEIR portion of the Supply Chain and make decisions about where you go.

This Supply Chain gap analyzer provides a comparison of how your processes compare to others and a graduated scale of maturity.  These are actionable gaps related to what you could DO differently rather than just comparison of inventory turns or process costs that may not be readily comparable across differently companies and products.  All this analyzer takes is assessing which process descriptions best match your organization. Once completed, you can "step back" and identify strengths and areas to focus on for improvement.  Below is a links to a sample 4stage descriptions for summary level processes:

A completed assessment (for a few processes) can look like the following graphic:

This shows a few of the key order management processes and the client's current state shown as yellow. Gaps are the white areas to the right of the yellow with some comments in blue.
